Steel structures are structures composed of steel materials and represent one of the primary types of architectural structures. Such structures mainly consist of components such as steel beams, steel columns, and steel trusses, which are typically fabricated from structural steel sections and steel plates. These components or parts are usually connected to each other by welds, bolts, or rivets. The Northeast Steel Structure Fabrication and Installation Company widely uses steel structures in large-scale factories, stadiums, ultra-high-rise buildings, and other similar projects due to their light weight and ease of construction. 1. Before installing a steel structure, it is essential to inspect various records and reports, including the manufacturer’s certificate of conformity, material test reports, and non-destructive testing reports for welds, to ensure that the appearance of the components meets the design requirements. Any identified issues must be promptly corrected. 2. Draw the steel structure.

1. Before installing the steel structure, check various records and reports, including the manufacturer’s certificate of conformity for components, material test reports, and non-destructive testing reports for welds. Also, verify that the appearance of the components meets the design requirements. Any issues found should be corrected immediately.
2. Draw a flowchart of the steel structure installation process and carry out the installation according to the flowchart. Before installation, verify the accuracy of the positioning of all anchor bolts that have been pre-embedded. If any discrepancies are found between their spatial positions and those shown in the design drawings, make timely corrections to ensure the precise placement of the anchor bolts.
3. The installation sequence of structural components should be carefully designed to quickly form a rigid body, ensuring continued stability during subsequent installation and facilitating the elimination of errors that may arise during steel structure erection.
4. Necessary calculations should be performed for the lifting and installation of structural components. For components with low lateral stiffness, measures should be taken to prevent twisting and damage.
5. During the installation of columns or steel structures, beams and supports should be installed promptly. If necessary, additional guy wires should be added for temporary stabilization.
6. When installing steel columns, pay attention to controlling the impact of temperature differences on the verticality of the components. Adjust measurements based on the verticality of the reference column first, and then verify the verticality of the other columns.
7. During column installation, the positioning axis of each column must be directly projected upward from the control axis on the ground; the top-axis of the next lower column may not be used as the positioning axis for the preceding column.
8. The on-site welding environment, welding positions, and high-altitude operations for steel structure installation are significantly affected by unfavorable factors such as air temperature and humidity, which can easily lead to weld defects. Therefore, it is essential to take appropriate measures to mitigate the impact of these adverse factors. Welds that fail inspection may be reworked or repaired no more than twice.
9. The torque wrench used for high-strength bolts must be calibrated and verified before use. After use, it should be re-verified. Once it is found that the verification torque error exceeds the allowable range, all bolts tightened with that wrench shall be considered nonconforming.
After the final tightening of high-strength bolts, an inspection should be conducted. The nut can be individually checked by tapping it lightly with a small hammer. Torque values should also be subject to random inspections.
10. After the steel structure has been installed and verified to be accurate, the voids between the column base plate and the top surface of the foundation should be promptly filled with a second grouting operation to ensure that the base plate is tightly pressed against the foundation surface.
11. After the completion of the entire steel structure installation, acceptance inspection shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the “Code for Acceptance of Construction Quality of Steel Structures” (GB 50205-2001).
